A useful hub is somewhere your aircraft can reach regularly. Workshop capacity should support your maintenance plan rather than consume cash without a purpose.
1. Review the network
Open Facilities. Inspect existing hubs, their airports, construction status and workshop capacity before buying another facility.
- Compare candidate locations with your routes and aircraft positions.
- Check that the airport can handle the aircraft you plan to maintain.
- Budget for the facility, workshop and later operating costs.
- Read the purchase quote and build time before confirming.
2. Add the workshop
A hub without the workshop add-on does not provide maintenance slots. At an eligible completed facility, choose Buy Workshop. Review the quoted price, planned slot count and construction time.
Wait for construction to finish and confirm the workshop is active. The construction countdown is a guide; the recorded facility state determines whether slots can be used.
3. Match capacity to the maintenance plan
- Check occupied and empty MX slots.
- Compare upcoming aircraft checks and their downtime.
- Stagger maintenance when possible so several aircraft do not compete for the same capacity.
- If capacity is consistently insufficient, review Expand Workshop.
- Check the expansion's cost, new capacity and build time before confirming.
Expansion is not an immediate way to finish existing maintenance. Plan ahead and check the updated slot count after construction completes.
4. Understand public slots
In a facility's Public MX Slots controls, authorised users can make slots available to other airlines and set an hourly rate. Set the intended rate before making a slot public. Review current rental occupancy before relying on that slot for your own operation.
When renting someone else's slot, the aircraft needs to be at that airport and the slot must support the selected check duration. The maintenance quote includes applicable check, hangar and rental charges.
5. Use the facility from the aircraft
Start a maintenance check from the aircraft's Maintenance action, not by merely assigning a home base. Follow the maintenance tutorial to authorise the check and verify completion.
If slots are unavailable
Check workshop ownership, active state, construction completion, capacity, permissions and the aircraft's actual airport. A visible hub, a future expansion or an airport selected as home base is not enough on its own.
